Meeting Andy Griffiths
By Gabi and Nadia

Ever since Andy Griffiths was six, he started to write books. On the Wednesday, 20th of May, eight young writers from Fort Street meandered to the Sydney Writers’ Festival. We had the chance to meet four celebrated authors such as Andy Griffiths, Jacqueline Harvey, Leigh Hobbs and Anthony Horowitz. But we will be writing about Andy Griffiths.

Andy Griffiths is one Australia’s most loved children’s writers. These are some of Andy Griffiths tips, do the unexpected for example the baby eating the dinosaur,or the baby and dinosaur get married and have... dinosaur babies! Another tip is have lots of explosions! Also bring literature to life! Before Andy Griffiths became an author he was a taxi driver, songwriter ,lead singer and a english teacher which he found quite boring so he met some students who didn’t like books and that's what inspired him to become an author. To make books funny!

Nadia and I really enjoyed Andy Griffiths’s Talk, It was very funny!! Andy Griffiths has written 40 books

Meeting Jacqueline Harvey
by Maria and Cherry
Horror, action and babies adopting dinosaurs --no, it’s not a dream--it’s a Writers’ Festival.

A group of eight children, Larissa, Cecilia, Ellie, Gabi, Matthew, Nadia, Maria and Cherry travelled to the Sydney Theatre Company with Mr McCarron. These students were there to celebrate the Sydney Writers’ Festival.  The students meet the famous authors Andy Griffiths, Jacqueline Harvey, Anthony Horowitz and Leigh Hobbs. Jacqueline Harvey is the celebrated author of the series of books called Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose. Before she started writing she was actually a teacher in a girls boarding school. She was also inspired by her primary school teacher and her love of storytelling. It took her twenty years to give up her  teaching career  and start working full time as an author. Jacqueline Harvey’s first and most famous series, Alice-Miranda was inspired by her experiences at school.

Meeting Anthony Horowitz
by Ellie and Matthew
Cherry, Maria, Larissa, Ellie and Cecilia  had the opportunity to  meet the author of the famous Alex Rider series, horror stories and the script writer of many movies, Anthony Horowitz. Through out the presentation he took us through the life of the fourteen year old spy Alex Rider and told us many dangers of bathtubs. He also gave us many writing techniques such as, to leave a cliffhanger and include danger to make it interesting. Adult childrens books are how he describes his fabulous books. Anthony Horowitz has won numerous awards.
