"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players"

5M performed "The King's Spell" a mashup of famous Mother Goose Fairy Tales. It was the first time the class had performed a play and there were many lessons to be learnt.

This is what they felt and learnt from the experience.

Having the experience of running a play with my Year 3s last year, I had wanted to build upon the experience and share the trials, tribulations and triumphs of playing a play with my Year 5s this year. Initially, this boy-heavy class were against it. Though, as we read through some of the scripts, the class started to visualise themselves in the role--they started to project themselves onto the characters. Excitement grew and enthusiasm spread. The class changed their minds and wanted to perform a play. Having a class that never had performed a play, there were many things to teach. Of all things to learn, the use of voice was one that I had wanted the class to reach to a pleasing level. It took many weeks and all sorts of lessons. From endless repetition to shouting games, we managed to get the vocal strength and variety to a pleasing level. Overall, I was happy to see 5M give their first play and proud of their willingness to learn something new and give it a go. Well done, 5M!

I learnt to be loud and use gestures and emotions to season your performance.

Having the fun experience of being a girl and how hot it can get in a dress and having long hair.
I learnt that it takes a lot of work and practice to be in a play.
The play was really fun and funny and the audience couldn't stop laughing.

I learnt to use your emotions more when you act. And when you speak u have to open your mouth to make your voice travell through the air and so the people can here your voice.

I learnt that emotion is a big part in plays, it makes the audience connect with you. And to make your voice loud you need to open your mouth.
It was fun doing a mashup of the different characters. And doing it with the class.

I learnt to use gestures when needed not just when ever and don't suit your character and learnt to use a louder voice if you open your mouth for a louder voice
