Earth's Place in Space
Our studies of Astronomy and Cosmology begun with a quest of understanding Earth's Place in Space. Inspired by game-based learning, we have designed our learning around a scenario of space teams seeking out other places to colonise in case Earth is destroyed by a meteor, asteroid or some power-hungry led nuclear state.

With seven teams of astronauts all seeking different celestial bodies to colonise, they must research, prepare and face the dangers of space travel in order to help humanity survive.  We will update our adventures and learning as we go. The astronauts will also keep a journal of their travel. Wish them luck!

Inspired by Adam Douglas's Hitchhiking Guide to the Galaxy, Cyan has further developed their Sizzling Starts to set the scene and develop a sense of place or time. We wrote one together:

The cockpit was alive with a rainbow of colours, buttons beeping all sorts of noise. The countdown resounded through the speakers in their helmets.

“T-minus 50 seconds and counting.”
The whole ship started to shake, the seat belts clung tighter. The Captain carried out the final checks, looking carefully over the data coming onto the systems display. The Co-Captain leaned on his footrest to take one last look over the horizon. The green plains that would no longer be. He took a final look at Earth from Earth...before it...he couldn’t even fathom their situation. They were humanity’s last chance.
